Volleyball Kazakhstan Team Wins First Asian Title

Kazakhstan's women's volleyball team defeated Japan 3-1 in the final of the 21st Asian Volleyball Championship.

This is Kazakhstan's first Asian Volleyball Championship title, ranking the best in Asia. The team has made a history.

The tournament was held in the Philippine cities of Manila and Santa Rosa from August 27 to September 4, 2023, with Kazakhstan advancing to a gold medal match for the first time in the Asian Volleyball Championship history.

Strong finish

After winning the first two sets, Kazakhstan lost the third set but recovered for a 25-19, 25-14, 22-25, 25-15 victory in the fourth set.

Sabina Altynbekova of Kazakhstan was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

The victory was a major upset and a historic moment for Kazakhstan. It also marked the first time a team other than China or Japan had won the Asian Volleyball Championship and has qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The win is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Kazakhstan team and has put Kazakhstan on the map as a volleyball powerhouse.

China, Japan Follow Kazakhstan at Asian Women's Volleyball Championship

While Kazakhstan won its first title, other top teams in Asia followed in the Asian Women's Volleyball Championship. China won the bronze medal over Thailand, who also tried to be in second place in the championship.

The participating teams in the 21st Asian Senior Women's Volleyball Championship were divided into four pools in the preliminary round. The top two teams from each pool advanced to the quarterfinals.

The quarterfinals, semifinals, and final were played in a single-elimination format.

In addition to the top three teams, other countries that competed in the tournament included the Philippines, South Korea, Vietnam, Iran, Australia, and India.

Volleyball in Kazakhstan

The Kazakhstan men's national volleyball team is ranked 24th in the world by the FIVB.

The Kazakhstan women's national volleyball team is ranked 12th in the world by the FIVB.

Volleyball is gaining popularity in Kazakhstan, and the national teams are making a name for themselves on the international stage.
